I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I’m gonna be honest, I am not a fan of historical romance. Nothing against it, it just isn’t my jam. So when I first started reading, I was kinda disappointed in how the story was shaping out. HOWEVER, once I got past the first couple pages, I was legit sucked into the story. It was everything I didn’t know I was missing in my life.
Eden is my spirit animal. Seriously. She has just the right amount of spunk and sass that makes me laugh and cheer her on! Luka is your typical “thinks he’s better than anyone” asshole who doesn’t realize just how much of a spitfire Eden is. I love the dynamic of their relationship and how she knows just how to shut his shit down and make him realize that she isn’t just another girl who will fall at his feet.
Luka pissed me off quite a bit. And honestly, I’m shocked I didn’t throw my kindle across the room with how much he pissed me off. Eden pissed me off a few times too, but I could understand her feelings so I couldn’t hold it against her. She is everything I wish I could be and more. Their story is unlike any other that I’ve read. Enemies to lovers is a trope that you just can’t get enough of as there is so much angst that you can literally FEEL the tension between them, sexual and otherwise.
The details Willow provides are everything. They create the scene in your mind so you feel like you’re there watching it all unfold in real time. You aren’t just reading a book, you’re part of the story. And yes, you will want to slap the shit out of Luka quite a few times… I know I did!
